Architecture with Emrys Architects

Venue: Emrys Architects, London EC1A 9HA

Monday 29^th July - Thursday 1^st August 2024 and Tuesday 20^th August - Wednesday 21^st August 2024. Two students spent time with award-winning architectural practice, Emrys Architects, and had the opportunity to tackle a variety of tasks ranging from hand-drawing, CAD-drawing, BIM Modelling, 3D modelling or 3D printing. Silversmithing

Fabrication

Venue: Zone Creations Ltd, London, SW19 2RR

Saturday 17^th August 2024. Students had the opportunity to spend the day with experts in the world of Fabrication. The day included working on a CAD design, working with a variety of materials, machining and assembly! Find out more about Zone Creations here.

Architecture with HKS Architects

Venue: HKS Architects, London W1W 8BF

Monday 12^th August - Friday 16^th August 2024. Two students had an opportunity to spend a week at the London office of renown architecture firm, HKS. Find out more about HKS here.

Furniture Making

Venue: Emma Leslie

Monday 5^th August - Friday 9^th August 2024. One student spent a week with award winning furniture maker, Emma Leslie. Find out more about Emma and her work here.

Structural and Civil Engineering

Venue: Heyne Tillett Steel, London N1 6DD

Monday 5^th August - Friday 9^th August 2024. During this one week work experience placement, one student had the opportunity to shadow an engineer and a technician from Heyne Tillett Steel, complete a small engineering project and assist the Team Coordinators to undertake a typical research project. Jewellery Making

Venue: Ravn School of Arts & Crafts, London

Monday 15^th July – Wednesday 17^th July 2024. One student attended this three day work experience with Ravn School of Arts & Crafts where they had the opportunity to work with the highly skilled Goldsmiths’ Company Fellow Paul Ravn, and gain an insight into how a professional jewellery studio works.

Bookbinding

Venue: Shepherds Bindery, London SW1P 1JU

Monday 24^th June – Friday 28^th June 2024. One student had the opportunity to spend a week learning the ancient craft of bookbinding with the team at Shepherds bindery in London. Shepherds is one of the oldest bookbinding companies in England specialising in fine binding, restoration and the conservation of books and manuscripts. Find out more about Shepherds here.
