2020: CONTEMPORARY SUGAR AND GUM PASTE FLOWERS – BUCKINGHAM PALACE

Venue: Buckingham Palace

Deadline to apply: 15/06/2020

Dates: This workshop will run for three days from Wednesday 22nd July until Friday 24th July 2020. Students will create dummy cakes that they can take home and to add to their portfolios. The application deadline will be in June, as interviews will need to be arranged for those interested in attending this workshop.  

Workshop Information

Course Outline:

The pastry chef workshop will focus on creating contemporary sugar and gum paste flower decorations which the students will be able to take home. Your flower sprays will consist of hydrangeas, sweet peas climbing roses and foliage. This course will be held at Buckingham Palace.

Transferable Skills and Future Careers

All of our workshops provide you with an opportunity to develop some great transferable skills that could help you in a number of careers. This workshop would be of particular interest to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career as a: Cake Designer, Pastry Chef, Conservation, Architectural Model Making, Animation, Fine Art and Sculpture.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible to apply you will need to be 16 – 18 years old during the dates of the workshop.

You should be creative and have an interest in the careers listed above, or similar areas. You should also have good hand-eye co-ordination.

In your application you should demonstrate a passion for working with your hands.

You must be able to attend every day of the workshop.

Course Funding

Our workshops are fully-funded by generous sponsors.  Places are limited, therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible.

If the workshop becomes oversubscribed, we will close the application process early.
